Location/Equipment/Personal organisation

Filming day
Here this is where we are planning to begin filming and go to the chosen location in order to get our footage ready for the music video to be done. In this day we plan to go early in the morning in order so that we have the best light and also less distraction for when we are filming to make it easier in order to get the shots that we need. We are hoping that we will have the ideal weather which would be sunny or it could mean that we would have to postpone it to another day as shots will be harder do etc and are not part of the narrative.

The station that we are planning to do filming is at derelict train station as it shows a gritty, poor scenery and adds a real underground feel to as they are an underground band which relates together. The fact that they are going against the government the poor areas and gritty aspect to it help support and demonstrate their feeling to why they are against them now, this would help be effective in helping create the narrative to the music video.

The equipment that we plan to use is basically a Sony HDV camera to film our footage for the music video and along with that then have the tripod to help get the shots nessary for the music video from several different angles to convey different ideas and present the artists or the concept of the video.

As we are doing an indie rock genre based video, we will also being using the nessary instruments so this would be things such as guitars, drumkits this would be to conform to the indie rock genre video with the use of the close up shots on them playing their instruments, this would be meeting the target audience needs and expectations from the video. We will beign using other things such as amps, microphones, this is in order to make the performance of the actors to make the performance look more realistic and more professional like.

The personal organisation of the group will be basically that we will as a group have to book the studio that we are planning to film at in order to be able to get the footage of where the characters will be playing their instruments and conveying to the genre and following the uses and gratification theory of belonging as well as also espacism. We will need to organise all the people that will be taking part in the music video together and make sure they know the venue etc as well as the equitment needed and what they will be doing in there scenes. This will require a short amount of rehersal in order for the day to run smoothly and effectivley so we can get all the shots and not need to do it again.
We will have make sure that everyone knows also where the venue is and that everyone participating in it will have the neessary details and know where it is.

The characters involved in the music video would be the three chosen members of Joe, Harley and Conor, there characters are based on the typical indie rock look so they appear more rugged and rebellious in their look and their appeal, this is the conveyed view of people in the indie rock genre, the clothing of the indie rock genre will be genereally simple clothing so things such as hoodies etc. There personlity are convey in they way they present themselves in the photos so with the use of their facial experessions.

Indie Rock Genre

The genre of indie rock is basically another form of rock that originally was found and created in the United Kingdom and the United states in the 1980s; this is a genre that is very diverse from the full rock genre as has many sub genres that include indie pop etc. It generally is used as a genre that is used and referred to as the outsider and underground bands and acts rather than the mainstream music.

With the popularity increase in the genre there are more and more bands and products be produced and released so this would include bands like nirvana etc who have made a big impact on the genre. The other similar products on the market are basically by generally small bands genre is generally made independantly so with the recent break into the mainstream music the genre has grown and grown further in popularity. There music is a type that go against the conventional manner of making music as they do it generally independanly and rarely use mainstream record labels.

Examples of bands that have risen the popularity of the indie rock genre are the kaiser chiefs, this is a band that releases other products that are similar on the market as well as others such as nirvana are bands that sell similar genre music and had massive success within the mainstreme industry.
With the use of the internet in the 2000s this allowed bands to grow and establish their name easier and for fans to have an easier way of being able to supprt and connect with the bands.

The music is generally made by generally by independant labels this is basically a label this operates without the funding or the other major record labels assistance with things such as distribution etc. The music is produced for a target audience that consists of teenagers mostly and are aimed mostly at ages of 15-25 and both genders can appeal. It is aimed generally at people with a "do it yourself" attitude so the audience is generally independant.`

Production scheduling

So for this we would try and plan our filming for a day where the weather would be appropriate for the narrative.

Post Production (Editing, CD Cover, Label and Poster)

For this part this is basically all the different parts that make up the video so the planning, the designing of the CD cover to help make it attractive and more appealing to the target audience, then there would be other things such as the label of the indie band and lastly the poster to help promote the CD. The post production begins at the very start so this would include things such as the mood board, storyboard etc would need to be completed before the actual film day, so that all the tasks would be complete and we would be most prepared for the shoot. There would be also other important tasks that are important such as the character and location search as these will need to be completed in order so the music video would go as well as possible and so we have a plan.

The editing of the music video would begin after the filming has been completed, so this we are planning to do this very soon after the filming so we can begin to put the music video together plus also then be to check if we may need to do any re filming so that we have plenty of time in order to correct and make the video the best that it can be.

(CD Cover, Label and Poster)
This would be completed after everything of the post production as well as the filming and editing has been completed. The CD cover would then be completed after so that we can desigh the most appropraite and make most suitable to the band and the single etc. The last things to be completed would be the label and the poster to help present and convey the single the best way possible in order to make successful.

Places that we intended to film

For the video concept we have been looking at mostly areas that are involving train stations as well as possibly the city in order to convey certain points of views to why the band are possibly against the government.

The train station is an unused station that would allow us the facilities and the space and time in order to get our shots to the best quality that they would need to be at. The equipment that we would be using would also not be getting in the way of passengers etc at real stations and they wouldn't get in the ways of shots which could be very helpful to us to get the best shots.

The area also then includes an used train which we could use for several effective shots including a passenger reading a news article about the possible reason to why the band are against the government. The station also includes the old ticket machines used in tube stations. This seeting will be an effective setting to create a realistic feel to the video.

The setting provides and relates to the distopia theory as it provides a realistic view of the world and will be touching on topics such as corruption and the government control and the effect of media.  We are also planning to film within a studio based in crystal palace (Antenna Studios) this is to focus on the indie rock genre instrument and close up scenes of them playing the instruments. 

The characters that would be involved would be Joe who will once we begin filming, fit the indie rock look and appeal to the audience effectivley. So the characters would be presented in a manner such as bright clothing, medium to long hair, skinny jeans these are the attributes that we would have to use to gratify the audience and also convey to the target audience. 

Treatment

A Silient film - Sleeping pills

The basic concept to the video will be that the band is going against the government so there will be the use of a lot of settings and performance in order to make the video most effective on the target audience so this will be somewhat an amplification but will not have all perforamance in the video.

The main target audience for the video will be between the age of around 16-25 so the band members will be to this similar age bracket so that there can be a relation between the two.

The main concept to the video is we will be showing settings and conveying and at times subverting them in showing narrative which is going against the government and there ways. In the video the setting will swich back and forth from performance from the band to settings constructing narrative and the possible reasons why they are against them, plus the fact that they feel like they are on the run from them.

The video flow will be of a faced past nature so that it fits in with the flow and tempo of the music that is being used. The location we are planning to be in London to show some sighnificant parts in London.

The chracters that would be involved will be three people as group members and then we would possibly have another person to be holding the newspaper to show the narrative early on to the audience. The characters would be reasonably young and would also be dressed in a way conventional indie type of genre.

The Game FT Lil Wayne

·      Goodwin’s Theory

The video of my life from the game and Lil Wayne is using the Andrew Goodwin theory of as it is using the lyrics to show the relationship between the visuals and the music which shows an illustrative narrative (Goodwin, 1992). The enhances the effect of the video as it makes the video better in my view and means that people can relate to the meaning of the song and the appeal of the game and Lil Wayne.

The setting of the video helps shows a rugged and rough neighbourhood so this is showing a lower class of society; this portrays the reality of the earlier lives such as the lives of the game, which helps with the appeal of the artist, its then added with the fact that someone is dying on the street after he has been shot which echo’s further the struggle and poverty etc. The uses of these stereotypes help the use of the (Barthes Theory) and the enigma code.
